Education & Discipleship Ministry
Wednesday Evenings at 7:30PM - 9:30PM
WHAT IS DISCIPLESHIP?
A disciple is one who believes in, lives by, and helps to spread the doctrines, precepts, and teachings of another.
Discipleship is the process of learning, integrating, and modeling the doctrines, precepts, and teachings of another.
Training is the process of educating, instructing, or becoming disciplined in a given area, skill, or lifestyle.
Becoming a disciple then, is the Christian’s life long journey under the Lordship of Jesus Christ which includes progressive learning, sharing the faith, and maturing spiritually through responsible church membership.
WHY A DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM?
Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of ALL nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Discipleship Training is to help facilitate the process of personal transformation and spiritual maturity, which includes becoming better informed in the principles and doctrines of the Christian faith, and being inspired, coached, and mobilized for opportunities of stewardship and service.
Ultimately, each believer must develop the self-discipline of personal prayer, seeking God, personal study, and taking responsibility for his or her own spiritual formation.
